Time will be the true test of the quality of the work, but it looks awesome right now. I will update my review with further experience should I need to invoke the warranty.

I will start and end my review noting that we are very happy with our new backyard. It is a vision come to life.

Bobby and his crew did a great job on our backyard. We will definitely be recommending them to all of our friends in Middle TN.

- Bobby's New Beginnings team does very good work. Ask whether he will be using subcontractors and what his track record is with working with them. Insist on the "A" team even if it might set the project back time-wise. It will be worth it in the end and might avoid setbacks and unplanned changes.

- I think it always makes sense to have a well written contract in place to govern the work to be done. In both cases, I had to put considerable effort into making the contract sufficient from my perspective. For instance, the types of materials to be used would not otherwise have been included in many cases. There are times when that can make a difference. Some less scrupulous contractors would use that as an opportunity to round corners, although that wasn't the intention in this case. My advice is to ask a lot of questions, insist on getting specific answers, and write them down to be included in your contract. This will help set clear expectations and will provide the opportunity for you to determine what "done" is toward the end of the project.

We have had Bobby and his team here for a couple of projects over the past 9 months. First was a retaining wall that I needed to put in and the second was for a backyard remodel including an outdoor kitchen (or an outdoor Sports Bar would be another way to think of it).

- Consider that you may want to play a role from a quality control perspective. I don't think you need to know the deepest details of the building codes, but if you are doing some work that has structural implications you should educate yourself on what is required to ensure the methods will comply. Not to say that these guys would knowingly violate codes, but sometimes things that have always been done a certain way are no longer compliant. Bobby will not always be on site to ensure things are being done properly so keep an eye out for things that don't seem right. There is a fine line between being an educated customer and being a pain in the neck, but its your home and your money so do what you need to do to be comfortable with the work being done.

I called this company for an estimate on trench to be dug in my backyard spoke with Bobby he came to my home gave me an estimate told me he would start job the following week but did not give a day and time. I called him again by the end of that week he told me they were running behind because of the weather and he would get to me the next week but still no date and time. Week two came and went and still no call from Bobby and job never got started. I do not recommend this company at all very bad business!!!! Consistent communication with customers would be very helpful if you really want the job! And it shows professionalism!

Some considerations if you're looking at doing a project with New Beginnings:

We are very happy with our new backyard. It is really amazing and is our visions come to life.

- Include a specific payment schedule in your contract, include the conditions that may warrant some holdback, and the criteria to be met in order for the holdback to be released. A simple understanding may not be that simple when someone is looking to get paid.

Bobby is a good guy who, in my experience, is honest and has good intentions. He listened to us, took the time to meet with us on several occasions never rushing us through the process, understood what we wanted to do conceptually, and had the foresight to find a way to make our vision come to life. He has been genuinely excited about the project and I got the sense he was more than just financially invested in the outcome. He wanted it to be awesome and what we had always hope it would become.
