Zeus recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge, as old age finally claimed him. Rod and his rehab program gave us the precious gift of extra quality time together that we hadn't thought possible. We recommend Canine Rehabilitation of Nashville and would rate it with a million stars if Google would allow it!

We have EVERYTHING great to say about Rod Newman and Canine Rehabilitation of Nashville. Our 100-pound, 12-year-old, arthritic Newfie mix (Zeus), who had been suffering from arthritis, had gone completely down in the back-end. We thought this would be the end, and then a fellow dog-lover referred us to Rod (who had helped heal her dog’s torn ACL).

Rod designed and customized a rehabilitation plan SPECIFIC to the needs of our dog, based on active recovery. The results were... AMAZING. After each session, Zeus became stronger and stronger. He was rising, standing and WALKING on his own, and, after only a few weeks, began playing again with our younger dog!

Our 15 year old Schnauzer had low back surgery in March. He was totally paralyzed in his back legs both before and after surgery. Within 5 days, the surgeon had us seeing Rod for treatment. He was unable to walk, but Rod got him in the underwater treadmill with support and he began his journey. We took him twice a week for the first month and then weekly for the second. He has now fully recovered and runs around our yard like he did when he was much younger. The surgeon was pleasantly surprised when she saw him back for his final 2 month check up. She really couldn't believe how well he was doing and told us(although she had not shared this in the past)she had not expected a full recovery. We really feel it is all due to Rod's great treatment and we are so grateful!

Not only is Rod is knowledgeable and his methods effective, he is patient and kind and SO understanding (which I discovered during our first visit when Zeus decided to “christen” the place.)

Our dog started having hind end lameness issues in October, by January (with a lot of veterinary intervention) we thought we had tried everything, we bought a doggy wheelchair, and talked about potentially needing to put him down. Our veterinary team was unsure if we were dealing with degenerative myelopathy or severe arthritis from previous injuries. As a last ditch, might as well try, we came to Rod at Canine Rehab and got a little doggy miracle. After the first session there was a marked improvement; now, after 11 sessions, we are only using the wheelchair for long road walks so he doesn't scrape his knuckles on the pavement. Rod does an excellent job of working with both dogs and owners to find out the best approach for each case, also, completely kid friendly (don't bring them for the first session, you need to pay attention, but once you get into the rhythm it's totally doable). Thank you Rod, you're the best!
